The lay of the land

• Highway 41 is the spine: Fresno → Coarsegold → Oakhurst → (turn to Bass Lake) → Fish Camp → Yosemite south gate.
• Highway 49 (the Golden Chain) meets 41 at Oakhurst and runs to Mariposa and the Gold Country.
• Highway 140 from Mariposa is the "All-Year Route" into Yosemite via El Portal.
• Back roads (Roads 200/145/222/417) reach North Fork, O'Neals, Bass Lake, and Indian Lakes Estates.
